My experience with this grief recovery method has been enormously helpful.

I would be lost and broken still, had I not attended. I actually gained a wonderful friend through this course. I found great relief knowing whatever my grief looked like or however long I needed to work on completion, that was okay. The course gave me confidence to cry more. Speak more. Heal more.

Family Testimonials

“My Mom passed away peacefully and with dignity at Huron Shore Hospice. We were so thankful to have the hospice close to home and away from the hospital lights and noises. The staff were so compassionate and caring for both my Mom and myself. This is a very important service that our community needs. I am so grateful they were here for my Mom when we needed the care and support.”

“We were very lucky that Ron had the time he had there. Huron Shores Hospice felt like you were coming ‘home from home’ and I was also welcomed to stay there along with my husband.  I did not have to worry about Ron’s care, food, washing or cleaning but was welcome to help if I wanted to. As a wife, I felt that I was part of the hospice family while I was there. Huron Shores Hospice supported our entire family, making us part of the system. We were all looked after and if we needed anything, the girls would be falling over themselves to get it. If I wanted to get away from the bedside for a walk, I could and knew someone was with Ron. The entire team was wonderful to our family and Ron said he could not be in a better place. The doctor was exceptional, so kind and caring, comforting me as Ron passed.”

– Pauline (Polly) Kirchel

“The experience was wonderful. It was like being with family in a beautiful hotel suite. It truly changes the ending of the story. Instead of spending your last days in a dull hospital room, you are in a little apartment with a stocked kitchen, a beautiful bedroom for the family to stay and even a little play area for the young kids. All the caregivers are so friendly and come in and chat like you are old friends, putting everyone at ease. It is such a comfort knowing that your loved one is never alone. I often say that hospice care is like going to heaven before you get there.”

– Irene Kerslake

“They went above and beyond to ensure she was comfortable and they obtained and brought her anything she asked for. This is a facility in our area that everyone should be very proud of.”

Donor Testimonials

"The Ripley and District Lions club is pleased to provide this donation in support of the Huron Shores Hospice. Thanks to the incredible generosity of many community businesses, volunteers, sports teams and individuals, our club is proud to provide this financial contribution.

We hope this donation will not only support the financial needs of the Hospice, but also serve as a small token of our appreciation and recognition for  the relentless volunteer efforts critical in sustaining the Hospice.

Thanks to your group’s efforts, people in need are able to receive free, end of life care with dignity and respect in the comfort of their own community, surrounded by the love and support of friends and family.

The passion, dedication and commitment of the Hospice volunteers is contagious and serves as an inspiration and reminder to all of us how we can better serve our communities.
